Project updates: substations and power lines
Last year, we successfully delivered several design projects, including the Puumala 110 kV switching station, the new Utanen 110 kV substation, the Nuojuankangas 110 kV substation, and the expansion of the Koivisto substation's 110 kV switchgear.
Around the turn of the year, we conducted foundation type selection, foundation design, and third-party inspections for several power line projects. These included transmission grid connections and connections for wind farms. Our team also performed challenging inspections of structural designs and strength calculations for wind turbine foundations. These demanding reinforced concrete structures include details sensitive to fatigue stress due to the high forces at the base of the turbine tower.
Current projects
We are currently working on the structural design for the renovation of the Yllikkälä 400/110 kV substation, which includes adding a reactor. More information about the transmission grid development plan is available here.
We were also selected as Enersense's structural design partner for the construction of the new Kärppiö 400/110 kV substation. We visited the site in December as the earthworks were completed and again in April to check on the progress of our design work. Further details about the project are available here.
